JW Asks About NWT Translators - 07/18/2008
I just recently found your site. I have been a [Jehovah's W]itness for several years and have never found anything on who translated our version of the bible. Can you tell me how you learned who the translaters were? I can't believe none of them didn't have any real education in translating; no wonder I'm so confused!! Thank

Hi Melissa. Thanks for writing to us. A former member of the
worldwide Governing Body of the Watchtower Society, Raymond Franz,
wrote a book entitled Crisis of Conscience. In this
book, Franz talked about the translation committee, including its head
- his uncle and subsequent head of the Governing Body - Fredrick
Franz. Once the list of "translators" was known, people were able to
research their backgrounds. Also, court records document the
cross-examination of Fredrick Franz and his inability to translate a
simple Hebrew phrase. An interesting Time magazine article from 1982
on Raymond Franz can

which includes an excerpt from Franz' book. If you research things, I
think you'll find that the Watchtower Society has been deceiving good
and decent people like you for quite some time. Please don't hesitate
