Mormons: Stay Away From CONTENDER Ministries - 08/15/2004
Dear Ben and Jennifer Rast,
I would just like to thank you so much for such a great time reading the mails - I havent had such a good laugh in ages. I would like to put this mail into two parts: first for Ben and Jennifer.
Write what you will - the truth will out and nothing you can say or do will ever change that. Was Joseph a false prophet? Well I guess you wont truly know until you die! Fortunately some of us dont have to wait that long.
The second part is to the Latter-Day Saints who write to this site - me included...
For crying out loud ... LOOK at the name of this website. CONTENDER Ministries!
READ Doctrine and Covenants10:63 "...yea, Satan doth stir up the hearts of the people to contention concerning the points of my doctrine; and in these things they do err, for they do wrest the scriptures and do not understand them." Does that smack of Ben and Jennifer Rast to you??
If you are LDS block this site and go about your business - you are wasting your time on these people.
So Ben and Jennifer, I hope you put this message on your site, as for me and mine... we are off about more important business.
Oh and please, Dont email back... I'm REALLY not interested
CONTENDER MINISTRIES RESPONSE:
Hi Lesley. Thanks for writing to Contender Ministries. I know you asked that we not respond, but any time you email us, you should expect a response. And if you truly weren't interested, I doubt you would have taken the time to write to us in the first place.
First, we don't have to wait until we die to know that Joseph Smith was a false prophet. All we have to do is analyze his prophecies and his teachings, compare them to the truth of the Bible and whether his prophecies came to pass, and then look to the Scriptural test of a prophet. It's easy to see that he was indeed a false prophet. If you go to your death assuming otherwise, it will be too late to change your mind, and we pray it doesn't come to that. Many Mormons are seeing the truth about their religion, and are fleeing the LDS Church in record numbers. Many are coming to the true Jesus of the Bible, and their salvation is now assured. It's a wonderful blessing that I hope you too will enjoy, but first you must be willing to take an intellectually honest look at the teachings of Mormonism and contrast them with the teachings of the Bible.
Speaking of which, you mention D&C 10:63 as a reason not to contend. Does that then trump Jude 1:3, in which we are instructed to "contend for the faith"? Does the D&C render the Bible meaningless? If you do not accept the Bible, then look at D&C 112:5 and D&C 117:13, in which the Lord allegedly instructed Mormons to "contend." At Contender Ministries, we do not recognize the D&C as authoritative, but we do recognize the Bible as being such. Therefore, as we contend for the faith, we have consequently given this ministry the name "Contender Ministries." Are we in error, because we follow the Bible?
I hope you realize their IS no more important business than serving the true God, and there is no more important concern to you than the destination of your eternal soul. There is too much at stake to just "laugh" it off.
Ben and Jennifer Rast
NOTE: Lesley asked us to put this email on the site. As per our email guidelines, that is typically a sure-fire way to NOT get a response or get your email posted. We made an exception in this case.
