Bashing Homosexuals...And Blacks, Latinos, and Women?!! - 12/17/2006
I would be interested in your showing me the
specific verses that condemn homosexuality. I know well the
scripture regarding Sodom and Gomorrah, and I see nowhere in or
around it that specifically states that Sodom and Gomorrah were
destroyed because the cities were filled with vile homosexual men and
women. If you can give me the exact quote (no personal
interpretation) stating that they were destroyed for that reason, I
will pay you one million dollars!
While we are on this
subject, when you read the story of the angels who visited Lot and
his family, have you never questioned why Lot chose to put his virgin
daughters’ lives at stake just to save these visitors, which Lot did
not immediately recognize as angels? Would you do that to your
children over strangers who are visiting? That’s a hard question to
answer if you do NOT understand the culture in which Lot was dealing.
Most Christians just gloss over that verse in hopes that no one will
ask them to explain it.
2.Second, regarding the
scriptures, we can cover the stories of Sodom and Gomorrah, the book
of Romans (supposedly stating that gays are condemned to hell), and
various other books in the New Testament. I am more than willing to
cogently go over each of the clobber passages and show you how
conservative Christians misinterpret them because they want to find
someone to marginalize. Since they can’t do it to Blacks and Latinos
any longer, since woman started to holler for equal rights, they can’t
do it to women any longer. Since they can’t do it to interracial
couples any longer, they move on to the next target: gays. And
when they can’t do it any more to the gays, they will move on to
another target. Thankfully though that the God of Abraham, David,
and Isaac is stronger than any legalistic faux religion.
I can intelligently, theologically, and confidently present to you
why I can walk around with my head held high (to the chagrin of
conservative Christians the world over) and say that I lay my claim
to the throne of Glory just as much as the heterosexual does.
And, by the way, using your own logic, you would not even
know anything about the scriptures because both you and I are
gentiles. The Jews fought hard and severely to prevent the message
of the Lord being presented to the gentiles. When Paul talked about
doing it, he had so much opposition to it that he had to separate
himself from his preaching partner. Preaching to the gentiles was
considered sinful and against God at that time. Doesn’t that sound
like the same argument that is being used against gays now? Funny
how history repeats itself. Of course, it does. Ecclesiastes tells
us that there is nothing new under the sun.

carefully. Perhaps your pride will be replaced with repentance. You
may keep your million dollars.
Lot committed a sinful act - an act I'm sure he figured was the lesser
of two evils. He is not championed as having done something righteous
here. You'll find that we speak scriptural truth on homosexuality. We
are not looking to "marginalize" homosexuals. Our only agenda is
upholding the Word of God. I don't know who you think is using
Christianity to marginalize blacks or Latinos, but it certainly hasn't
been us. We have not tried to marginalize women - my wife is an equal
part of this ministry, and we simply hold to God's Word when it comes
to women. In Scripture, women are to be honored. We don't marginalize
interracial couples. Moses' brother and sister chastised him for
marrying a black woman. They were punished by God for their bigotry.
In none of these instances are there scriptural teachings to support
the bigotry. However, there are clear biblical teachings against
homosexuality. Anyway, I hope you'll stop wasting time putting forth
straw man arguments, and read the links I posted above. May the Holy
Spirit speak to you through His Word.
