False Teaching in the Church - 11/10/2002
While searching for material on the false teaching of the Catholic Church, I was lead to this site. Excellent material! Every article I have read so far is in line with what I believe and feel that the Bible teaches. I support the following ministries: The Berean Call (Dave Hunt), Christian Jew Foundation (Gary Hedrick), Jews For Jesus and other Messianic and
Apologetic Ministries. I am disheartened by the amount of Paganism and false teaching that has crept into the Church. Do you have a 'Statement of Faith' that is available? What denominational affiliation are you?
Please pray for my job of 18 years. Business is bad and I am praying that I do not get caught up in the next round of layoffs. We are a single income family with 7 children (married 18+ years).
As an ex-Catholic, I vehemently reject that godless religion and am burdened for those who remain in it's bondage. Pray that God will save my siblings and parents.
I am currently fellowshipping at a Reformed (Covenant Theology) church but recently have been struggling with the doctrines of amillenialism, infant baptism, Calvinism and other beliefs. Pray that God will lead me to a more suitable fellowship.
Thanks and may God Bless
CONTENDER MINISTRIES RESPONSE:
Greetings Joseph, and thanks for contacting us at Contender Ministries. It sounds like the Holy Spirit is in you, and enabling you to discern false doctrine from the true gospel of Jesus Christ. That is so wonderful to hear! We're also disappointed with the heresies that can creep into the church. Paul expressed his displeasure with this on several occasions, and Galatians chapter 1 is a good example. Ours is a non-denominational church, but one that preaches the gospel according to the Bible - not according to the "wisdom of man." You can read our Statement of Faith at the following link: http://www.contenderministries.org/believe.php
It's also good to see that you have been burdened for those who are still under the deception of false doctrine. We certainly pray for you as you contend for the faith. It can be hard, especially when dealing with your own family, but it is so incredibly important, as you are well aware. Amillenialism, infant baptism, and Calvinism are popular beliefs, to some extent. However, we both know that popularity does not make something true. Praise God that you're able to discern the problems in these areas. Keep praying as you search for a church body that teaches from the Bible, and will nourish your soul. Don't despair in this search. If you have any questions about false doctrines, don't hesitate to email us.
We will also be in prayer for your financial stability. These are hard times, and it seems layoffs are rampant right now. I'm not trying to assuage you with empty platitudes when I say, keep your focus on Christ, and trust Him to provide. Remember the words of Jesus:
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." -- Matthew 6:25-34
May God's blessing be upon you, Justin. Give praise to God, and He will guide you and be your rear guard.
