The prophet Zechariah wrote that in
the last days, the city of Jerusalem would become a
burdensome stone and a cup that causes drunkenness. All
the nations that surround Israel are indeed intoxicated
with religious passion and the religion that feeds this
drunkenness is Islam. Zechariah also predicted that the
conflict would escalate to a point where the entire
world would be brought into the battle, and all those
who tried to resolve the issue will be cut to pieces.
It seems the events in the Middle East are fitting into
this scenario perfectly, and fulfilling the prophecies
of the last days. Unfortunately, for those of us in the
U.S., the United States is leading the effort to divide
up God’s covenant land.
Now that the war in Iraq is over,
the U.S. is focusing its attention on the Middle East.
The Bush administration recently unveiled its Middle
East “Road Map”, which was drafted by the “Quartet" – a
group consisting of the United States, the European
Union, Russia and the United Nations. The Road Map lays
out the conditions, phases, timelines and benchmarks for
the formation of a Palestinian state by 2005. The
creation of this state is supposed to bring a final end
to the Middle East Conflict. The road map shifts the
focus off of an end to terror and on to more concessions
by Israel even as homicide bombers continue to blow
themselves up, taking innocent civilians with them.
I Thessalonians 5:1-3 “Now as to
the times and the epochs, brethren, you have no need of
anything to be written to you. For you yourselves know
full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a
thief in the night. While they are saying, ‘Peace and
Safety!’ then destruction will come upon them suddenly
like birth pangs upon a woman with child; and they shall
not escape.”
Who will bring this destruction?
Daniel 9:27 “And he (the
Antichrist) will make a firm covenant with the many for
one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a
stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wings
of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even
until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is
poured out on the one who makes desolate.”
Paul’s words “peace and safety”
from the Greek can also be translated “peace with
security”. In 1992, with the election of Yitzhak Rabin,
a new policy of peace for safety began. The Israeli
people began accepting the implementation of UN
Resolution 242 – trading land for peace, and leading
them to the precarious position they are in today. With
the acceptance of this new Road Map, they continue to
make agreements and concessions that will leave their
borders as indefensible as they were before the 1967
war.
In an address to Parliament before
the Iraq war began, British Prime Minister Tony Blair said “It is precisely
now, when we do have all this focus on the issue of
weapons of mass destruction and Saddam Hussein and all
the things that he has done, that we say to the Arab and
Muslim world: ‘We accept the obligation of
even-handedness, we accept that it is right now that we
have to say to people that the issue of peace between
Palestinians and Israelis is as important as any other
issue to us.”
In a statement at Camp David after
meeting with Blair, President Bush said, “Last June 24th,
I outlined a vision of two states, Israel and Palestine,
living side-by-side in peace and security. Both
America and Great Britain are strongly committed to
implementing that road map.”
U.S. Secretary of State
Powell, President Bush, and Tony Blair plan to
rebuild the coalition that was splintered during the war
with Iraq by buying into the Arab myth that “occupied”
land and Jewish housing construction in the disputed
territories is the root of all the problems in the
Middle East. Bush, who is a committed Christian, is
taking America down a dangerous path when he is willing
to kick Jesus out of his own house. If Jesus were born
today, under the conditions of the Road Map to peace, he
would have to be evicted from his home and would be
accused of being a settler and an obstacle to peace.
Apparently our government now agrees with Arafat, who
at a UN gathering in Geneva in 1988 said, “Bethlehem is
the Muslim town where the first Palestinian, Jesus was
born.” Of course facts matter not in a “global
neighborhood”. Islam had not even come into being in
New Testament days and the “occupiers” in the Jewish
homeland at the time were Romans.
The Bush administration has also
prepared a list of sanctions against Israel should it
refuse to comply with a plan for a Palestinian state by
the end of the year. These sanctions include an
examination of the use of U.S. weapons in the West Bank
and Gaza Strip. A congressional source close to the
administration said “it’s hard to overestimate the anger
within the administration toward Israel regarding the
delays in the roadmap”. I would add that it’s most
likely hard to overestimate God’s anger at this country
for carving up His covenant land and handing it over to
Islamic nations and terrorist groups. The
administration has stated it would reconsider these
proposed sanctions should Israel fail to implement the
roadmap over the next few months.
At the same time, The European
Union is now pushing hard to eliminate the EU
Presidency’s and Commission’s roll in foreign policy and
instate a President of the European Union where the 10-nation military alliance resides. As the EU is one of
the quartet now working on the Road Map to peace in the
middle east, the stage could very well be being set for
the seven-year peace agreement of Daniel 9:27 that will
be made by one man, the Antichrist and leader of the
10-horned Roman Empire.
The “roadmap” also demands that new
leadership with real authority be democratically elected
to head the new Palestinian state. A new Palestinian
Prime Minister was put in place, but he is anything but
in charge and this is no secret. On May 26th
Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat announced to world
leaders that he, not his prime minister, is in charge of
the Palestinian side in negotiations with Israel.
Arafat still controls the Palestinian security forces,
has objected to the makeup of Abbas’ cabinet (instead
installing many of his cronies) and Abbas himself admits
no decisions are made without the approval of Yasser
Arafat. Where are the media outcries and condemnation
from the U.S. administration? Arafat has yet to comply
with anything in phase one of the plan, yet no one is
claiming that the Palestinians are delaying a peace
agreement.
Abu Mazen, the Prime Minister for
the Palestinians, isn’t much better than Arafat. In fact he’s none other than the
man who financed and approved the Munich Olympics
terrorist attacks. The mastermind of the Munich
Olympics massacre, Mohammed Daoud Oudeh, says it was
Mazen who provide the money for the attack. Ever heard
of the Al-Aqsa Martyr’s Brigade? I’m sure you’ve on
numerous occasions turned on the news to hear that the
Al-Aqsa Martyr’s Brigade has proudly taken credit for
another homicide bombing in Israel. If you haven’t, you
probably don’t watch much news. Who is the Al-Aqsa
Martyr’s Brigade? It’s not a part of Hamas, Hezbollah,
or Al-Qaida. It is a cell of Fatah, the organization
founded and directed by Arafat and Mazen for nearly 40
years. Mazen even pushes the theory that the Jews
conspired with Hitler to create the Holocaust to justify
the creation of a Jewish state. In March of 2003,
Mazen was quoted as saying that it was permissible to
murder Jews who lived in the West Bank and the Gaza
Strip. This is who the US and the Israel are making
deals with and pinning their hopes on.
Not only is it a strategic mistake
to give the Palestinians a convenient and defendable
front line from which to launch their attacks, it is
idiotic to reward terrorism, while fighting a war
against the same. We will be rewarding murderous
Palestinian terrorism and creating an Israel that will
be invitingly vulnerable to attack by Arab countries and
terrorists.
If Mexico decided that the
southern United States was unfairly taken from them in
the Spanish American War and is now “occupied
territory”, and if the Mexican people began launching
suicide attacks in the United States killing innocent
civilians in coffee shops, discos, and markets, would we
solve the problem by giving them the southern United
States in exchange for their promise to no longer blow
up our people? Somehow I doubt it. What country on
the planet would agree to promises from their enemies in
exchange for land? Would the Muslims, for the sake of
peace, surrender Mecca to the Jews? Would the Catholic
Church surrender the Vatican?
So, what about this pre-condition
in the road map that Palestinians must end terror
attacks before being given their own state? As the U.S.
and the quartet are talking about time-lines and moving
the peace plan forward (and threatening sanctions
against Israel if they do not comply with the plan), the
Palestinian Authority mufti, Sheikh Ikrimah Sabri,
during a sermon in the Al-Aqsa Mosque, called upon
Muslims to oppose the U.S. coalition against terrorism
and encouraged them not to fear the U.S. We’re dreaming
if we think the P.A. is committed to ending terrorist
attacks on Israel. They aren’t committed to ending
Islamic terrorism anywhere in the world. Their
scriptures teach otherwise. The goal of every good
Muslim is Islam’s dominance over the world in all
governments and all countries, and nowhere more than
Israel. As the Quran says, they must “Slay the
infidels”.
While the governments of the world
pressure Israel and threaten consequences for any
failure to immediately move the peace plan forward, you
will hear nothing of consequences for more homicide
bombings carried out by the Palestinians. The roadmap
demands an end to terror attacks and a crackdown on
Palestinian Militants. In fact ending terror is the
major objective of Phase one of the plan, which is to be
completed by the end of May 2003. The P.A. is required
to make a VISIBLE effort to arrest, disrupt, and
restrain individuals and groups conducting and planning
violent attacks on Israelis anywhere. And, if the
Palestinians don’t put an end to terrorist attacks, what
are the consequences? They still get a Palestinian
state and Israel gets sanctions for being hesitant to
continue down the road map to destruction. In short,
terrorism pays. Even as Islamists are blowing
themselves up every time someone from the administration
makes an appearance in Israel, Bush has assured Arab
allies that a Palestinian state will emerge by the end
of the year. With those kind of assurances, why would
Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Al Aqsa, or any of the other
terrorist groups working for the P.A. stop doing what
has worked for them. We don’t have to guess that they
won’t. They have openly proclaimed to the media that
they will not give up their “armed struggle”, no matter
what concessions are made.
Every time more peace talks are
planned and the politicians of the world again start
promising “peace and security”, you can count on
increased terrorist attacks in Israel. Just after the
road map to peace was unveiled by the quartet, a wave of
terror strikes hit Israel and Jerusalem. This was after
6 months of no attacks on the city. It is a historical
fact that every time Israel withdraws its troops in
compliance with yet another peace plan, they become a
target. How much worse will it be if the Palestinians
are rewarded for their terror attacks with their own
state and the “security apparatus” they will be
justified in building to defend their borders? If it
were any other country in the world, no one would expect
them to retreat and expose themselves to more attacks.
Since the Oslo Peace Accord, when
the Palestinians agreed to end their “armed aggression”
in exchange for more land in Judea, Samaria and the Gaza
Strip, terror attacks against Israelis have actually
increased three-fold. The land handovers have continued
despite increasing terror attacks. As punishment for
the P.A.’s violation of every peace agreement they’ve
ever made is the creation of their very own state from
which to wage more attacks.
Of course, the Palestinian
Authority immediately endorsed the plan with only some
reservations on the final status of Jerusalem. Why
would they NOT immediately endorse the peace plan? They
are being rewarded for terrorism, so there is absolutely
no reason for them to think that once the deal is done,
they cannot continue to terrorize Israel for more gain,
eventually reaching their ultimate goal of eliminating
the Jewish State from the map. If terrorism got them
their own state, wouldn’t the logical conclusion be that
more terrorism would get them what they really want?
Meanwhile Israel must face a world that demands
immediate concessions and visible actions, as history
repeats itself over and over again, leaving more dead
Israelis and terrorist camps covered with posters of
martyrs.
God also has something to say about
the creation of a Palestinian state in the Promised
Land. In Joel 3:1-2 He says, “In those days and at that
time, when I restore the fortunes of Judah and
Jerusalem, I will gather all the nations and bring them
down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will enter
into judgment against them concerning my inheritance, my
people Israel, for they scattered my people among the
nations and divided up my land.
The scattering of the rightful
residents of the Promised Land obviously happened in
ancient times, especially after the Assyrian, Babylonian
and Roman conquests of the land. The Lord is now regathering his covenant people from the corners of the
earth as prophesied in Isaiah 11:11-12, and with nearly
half the Jews on earth back in their home land, prophecy
is once again being fulfilled as we divide up their
land, and work diligently toward pushing the Jews out of
“occupied” Judea, Samaria and at least part of
Jerusalem.
We will pay a price for turning our
backs on Israel in an effort to placate riled Muslim
world opinion in the aftermath of the war on terror and
in Iraq. Scripture warns that “dividing up My land” is
one of the main reasons judgment will come on the
nations in the end times. We are also paving the way
for the Arab nations who will conspire together to wipe
out Israel as a nation:
Psalms 83:1-4 “O God, do not
keep silent; be not quiet, O God, be not still. See how
your enemies are astir, how your foes rear their heads.
With cunning they conspire against your people; they
plot against those you cherish. Come, they say, let us
destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel be
remembered no more.”
In ancient times Israel made many
unwise alliances with enemies whose ultimate aims were
to destroy her. Israel’s past is filled with
politicians heeding the advice of other governments
rather than God. God has this to say about the kind of
peace the governments of the world are trying to sell to
us in the road map to destruction:
Jeremiah 6:14-15 “They dress
the wound of my people as though it were not serious.
‘Peace, peace,” they say, when there is no peace. Are
they ashamed of their loathsome conduct? No, they have
no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush. So
they will fall among the fallen; they will be brought
down when I punish them.”
Ezekiel 13:10 “Because they
lead my people astray, saying “Peace,” when there is no
peace, and because, when a flimsy wall is built they
cover it with white-wash, therefore tell those who cover
it with whitewash that it is going to fall. Rain will
come in torrents, and I will send hailstones hurtling
down, and violent winds will burst forth. When the wall
collapses, will people not ask you, “Where is the
whitewash you covered it with?”.
